CEREC technology

For tooth restoration, one of the main technologies we use at the Alain Cyr Clinic is CEREC. Two options are available: composite obturation, commonly called “lead filling,” or ceramic restoration.

Composite resin is inserted layer by layer and is hardened using a light, reproducing the shape of the tooth being restored. This new tooth will have a lifespan of about five years on average.

As for restoration using ceramic, a material that has several properties similar to enamel, the tooth will be designed using a computer, which will make an exact replica of the tooth depending on the color and size required. This technique is very effective to reinforce your teeth because ceramic doesn’t put any pressure on natural teeth.

Since 1985, the CEREC technology has been constantly developed. At the Alain Cyr Clinic, we are lucky enough to have qualified people to provide this high-quality treatment to our patients.

Implant services

Several solutions are available if you’re missing one or several teeth. For example, there’s a partial implant prosthesis, the butterfly bridge, the conventional bridge or even in some cases, a full prosthesis. Have you ever thought about getting an implant?

Made of biocompatible titanium, dental implants replay the naturally missing root of a tooth. Then, the dentist will create the crown (part of the tooth that sticks out of the gum line), which will then be grafted to your implant.

An in-depth examination and a scan of the region in question must be studied carefully by the dentist to make sure that surgery is possible. In some cases, depending on these tests, if bone loss is detected, it may be necessary to resort to a bone implant. Under a local anesthetic, the implant is done here at the Alain Cyr Clinic, before or during the implant procedure.

Following this implant or implants, the bone level will be more stable and bone loss will be completely avoided, not to mention the aesthetics and sensation of a real tooth!

Are dental implants painful? In general, following this kind of surgery, patients may feel slight sensitivity in the gums for 24 hours. Since there are no nerve endings, the bone feels no pain. That said, at the Alain Cyr Clinic, for the comfort and well-being of our patients, we use the cutting-edge so-called “PRF” technique, which speeds up the healing process. This European technology consists of producing a fibrin clot rich in platelets and growth factors, which will play a role in the tissue matrix, thereby optimizing and accelerating the scarring process.

This technique is also used, for instance, when we have to pull one or several wisdom teeth, or even for gum grafts. At the Alain Cyr Clinic, we use everything available to us for the satisfaction and well-being of our patients.

Hygiene

Did you know that a lack of oral hygiene, including the accumulation of plaque, may have consequences on your overall health?

Of course, tarter, or mineralized dental plaque, is loaded with bacteria, and accumulates around your teeth, causing inflammation of your gums. In some extreme cases, tarter may be responsible for certain cardiovascular or bronchial-pulmonary diseases. This is why it is strongly recommended to get a full cleaning and check-up of your teeth every six months.

Luckily, these inflammations are reversible.
Daily personal maintenance, including brushing and flossing, will prevent a multitude of oral diseases such as periodontitis and gingivitis.

Periodontitis affects both the gums and the underlying bone. Unfortunately, it is irreversible, but it can be effectively controlled. It is essential to detect periodontal disease quickly because its progression can be very fast and very aggressive.

Luckily, at the Alain Cyr Clinic, we have the technologies and competence necessary to stabilize and improve your oral hygiene.

You just need to do your part to keep your oral health in optimal shape!

Root canal therapy

Divitalizing, or more commonly known as root canal therapy, or just root canal, has an unfortunately bad reputation. At the Alain Cyr Clinic, thanks the meticulous work by our professionals, this dreaded dental procedure is transformed into a moment of painless calm.
Under a local anesthetic, the dentist will remove the cavity (caries) and clean and disinfect the inside of the tooth. Then, he will block the canals by filling them with a heated biocompatible polymer, and finally solidify the whole structure using a crown.

The video above shows Waterlase, a laser that eliminates bacteria that may be living in your tooth. This is also used in surgery procedures.

At the Alain Cyr Clinic, we use the latest technologies in order to increase and optimize the success rate of our procedures.

Jaw disorders

Did you know that 95% of the population puts pressure on their jaw without even knowing it?

This repeated pressure wears out not only your teeth, but also the bones in your jaw. With or without symptoms, this action happens generally at night. When you go to sleep, your muscles relax and your jaw automatically puts itself in its resting position, i.e. set farther back. If you have a dental malformation, you might get an interference when you relax your jaw, which could create excessive force on your temporomandibular joint.

This abnormal pressure may then cause headaches, neckaches and aches in your shoulders, muscular fatigue, ringing in your ears, cracking and displacement of your jaw, even leading to asymmetrical facial features, upheaving your gums and leading to dental fractures.

Fortunately, following a full examination of your jaw, we can determine the right treatment to protect you against these potential everyday problems.

First of all, you have dental balancing. The dentist will proceed with removing excessive points of contact on the tooth involved, then by adding it onto teeth that need it the most in order to balance out your occlusion. However, you still need to meet certain, very precise criteria in order to get this treatment.

Secondly, there’s the balanced guard plate. This customized device made to fit your teeth needs to be worn at night, since it places your jaw in the right position. It will then eliminate any clenching and any dental interference possible.

Whatever treatment you may choose, the results will be quick, painless and are guaranteed to meet your expectations.

Service d’orthodontie

You have two options if you want to reposition your straight teeth: conventional braces or invisible Invisalign orthodontics.
In both cases, you’ll get the same results. However, the Invisalign treatment is much more discreet and is short-term.

For a major problem with tooth dis-alignment, we’ll have to use conventional braces. However, at the Alain Cyr Clinic, you can choose metallic or porcelain braces. No matter which one you choose, we have taken it upon ourselves to use the easiest, lowest-diameter braces to optimize the comfort of your treatment and to promote a quick treatment.

With regard to Invisalign, these customized transparent shells made using cutting-edge software must be worn at all times, except during meals, and must be changed every two weeks.

Also, know that there are orthopedic devices that if you use them at an early age, will prevent poor displacement and poor positioning of your teeth. These devices help to guide the growth of your teeth to prevent possible, longer and more costly treatments, and even surgery procedures.

In a full orthodontic examination, we will determine the most appropriate treatment for you. No matter which one you choose, you’ll get a straight, radiant smile.
